Spring retreat 2023

Dates: 7th - 10th April

***This retreat has now sold out***

Refresh.
Reflect.
Renew.

It's April. Chicks are breaking out their shells. Bears are coming out of hibernation. Nature all around us is unapologetically in bloom. Want to know what that feels like?

Each month, nature has unique and important lessons to teach us. This creative nature retreat will give you the tools to open your mind, body and soul to these lessons. Within the gorgeous landscape of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, you will have the opportunity to refresh, reflect and renew by re-connecting with your inner child, your creativity and your innate link to the natural world. You will be guided through a mix of group and individual creative activities, both indoor and in nature, using principles of Dramatherapy and inspired by Environmental Arts Therapy practices.

In traditional Celtic society, the time of year now known as April was An Giblean - a time of sowing seeds, of betrothals and of new beginnings. Along with like-minded people and safely guided by two qualified dramatherapists, you will explore what seeds you want to sow in your life, how you might make a re-commitment of love to yourself, and leave feeling refreshed and renewed.

"The retreat helped me to bring back my inner child and creative self. I realized that all the energy and ideas I carried as a child are still within me, I just must spend time to connect with them. It is easy to get lost in the rat-race when working full-time and keeping things together, so having the space and people to connect and be creative with was amazing."

A bit about me... I'm a qualified dramatherapist (MA) and Mental Health Practitioner working with the CAMHS crisis team in Bristol and have experience working with children and young people who are adopted or looked after. I'm particularly interested in the practice of Therapeutic Theatre.

The first retreat in November 2022, held in the Scottish Highlands, took inspiration from the Celtic calendar, which starts in November. This time of natural death and preparation for rebirth brought the themes of letting go of the old, being with stillness and moving towards the new. Mirroring the trees around us, we explored what it might be like to drop our leaves, releasing any burdens of the year that has passed, and with them sow the seeds of what is to come, putting trust in an unknown future. We explored our relationships with stillness, particularly in relation to our creativity - for 'nothing just bursts out of nowhere and takes off and away like a hare. All things begin gently with a seed, an idea, a dream, and this must lay dormant and await its proper time and season before it can grow' (Heginworth, 2008).
